General services of the Center for Access and 辅助技术 include:

  • liaison with local, state, federal agencies
  • individual orientation, pre-admission counseling and assistance with registration
  • assistance in obtaining notetakers and classroom accommodations
  • liaison with faculty and campus offices
  • supplemental tutorial services
  • monitoring of academic progress
  • personal counseling and academic counseling

Alternative Testing 服务

的 Center for Access and 辅助技术 (CAAT) provides an alternative testing service, in compliance with 艾达 standards, to students who have disabilities. 资格 for this service is determined by the CAAT staff, and is based on the current professional documentation provided by the student and course requirements.

To qualify for services from the Center for Access and 辅助技术, a student must:

  1. Apply and be accepted for admission to Hudson Valley Community College through the regular admission process.
  2. Meet the definition of disability as defined by federal law: "any mental or physical condition that substantially limits an individual’s ability to perform one or more major life activities." For additional information on the Americans with Disabilities Act (艾达), please visit the 艾达.gov网站.
  3. Self-identify as a student with a disability by accessing the Accommodate Portal through the Center for Access and 辅助技术 webpage.
    注意: Please be sure to upload the completed Release Authorization Form (PDF).
  4. Schedule and complete an intake meeting with the Center for Access and 辅助技术.

To ensure the best possible services, we suggest that students submit adequate documentation of disability to the Center for Access and 辅助技术.

  • 学生s with physical disabilities, visual impairments or hearing impairments should consider submitting a letter from their physician that verifies the disability.
  • 学生s with learning disabilities should consider submitting a full psycho-educational report completed by a licensed psychologist or appropriate professional.
  • 学生s with psychological disabilities should consider submitting a letter from a licensed psychologist, 治疗师或精神科医生.

注意: All documentation submitted should address: diagnosis, 预后, 功能的局限性, and recommendations of academic supports.
